Claire & Robert - 20 April 2008

Claire & Robert's wedding day was special in the sense that Claire and Robert decided to see each other before the ceremony.
The ceremony was scheduled for the afternoon and with the short days of winter we wouldn't have had much time and light to get any location photos.

Claire was getting ready with her bridesmaids at the Blue Hotel. Once she was ready, the boys arrived and Robert came up to meet Claire. It was sweet when they first met and though I kept my distance I felt like a bit of an intruder to this special moment. At least I got some nice images.

With everyone ready we headed down to the hotel lobby to take some photos in the hotel and around Woolloomooloo Wharf.

After that we headed across to Chowder Bay for some more photos before meeting up at the Gunners Barracks for the appointment with Jan Littlejohn the marriage celebrant.

The ceremony was on the Gunners Barracks balcony overlooking the harbour and city skyline.

Megan & Gavin - The Hora

I posted earlier about Megan & Gavin's wedding, but I think they deserve another post for their crazy crazy reception. Crazy in a good way.

It's hard to portray the intensity and craziness of a hora but I think this slideshow will give you some idea.

So turn up your sound and click Play.

Bustrip

Today Kate and I took a bus trip with a bunch of fellow AIPP photographers.
Our first stop was at David Oliver's studio in Pennant Hills. David showed us around his amazing studio. His work has been an inspiration for me ever since I started photography so it was an absolute pleasure to be able to talk to David one on one and hear him talk about what drives him.

David is seeing us off on the bus as we head off to visit one of his good mate Ken Duncan.
David is shooting with a Nikon D3 these days!

For our next stop we headed to Ken Duncan's gallery in Erina Heights on the Central Coast. After a good lunch at the gallery we met with Ken.
Ken is such a nice guy and shared openly with us how he does what he does.
It was great to hear his philosophy on only providing the best product using the best craftsmen and materials and being able to charge accordingly for a quality product and prints that will last forever.
It's the same philosophy we have adopted from the start, we don't aim to be the cheapest but to provide the best for the right price. It was great to have that reinforced by someone like Ken.

Ken in front of one of his prints, and they look so amazing when they are printed big.

On the way back we stopped at Terrigal Beach; coming straight from meeting Ken we were all inspired and everyone pulled out their camera to take some photos just for fun.

It's been a while since I have taken a photo just for fun, probably about 500,000 images ago. If you haven't done it lately, do it. Go somewhere and just do your thing.

Here are some of the images I took just for fun, and photoshopped, again just for fun.

First my collection of fish heads :-)
and my piece de resistance, fish guts!
I think this would look great enlarged to 30"x40" printed on super glossy metallic paper. For some reason Kate is not keen on the idea though.
On to something prettier...
seagulls
pretty sunset
and a bunch of photographers, Gunter Rechberger (Christl Photography) left and Peter Karp (Peter Karp Photography) right.
And finally, I was about to take yet another sunset image when these kids where riding past, when they saw me they wanted to stop but I told them to keep going and quickly managed grabbed a few frames.
