Mel & Sean ~Day After Session~

The day after the wedding the sun was shining and everything was grand. We (Vanessa, Kate and I) wanted to make the most of the location and somehow sweet talked Mel and Sean to have a 'day after session' in full wedding gear.

I think we told Mel that Sean had agreed to it, and then told Sean that Mel had agreed to it. Anyway, we knew it was going to be awesome so we couldn't just let them start their honeymoon by wasting time away sipping some fancy drink with an umbrella by the pool when there was a perfectly good wedding dress just waiting to be ruined in the name of photography.

Look I am sure it will come good in the cleaning, at least I think that's what I promised ....

OK, bear with me, there are heaps of photos here, I just can't pick my favourites there are too many!!

Mel & Sean got hitched in Fiji

Last week we were lucky enough to shoot a wedding in Fiji with our friend the uber talented photographer Vanessa from Wildberry Studio & Design
We had such a blast and took so many images that I think a couple of posts are in order, including a behind the scenes look at the shoot, or rather just some images of photographers taking pics of each other :-)
In the meantime, there are more images on Vanessa's blog.

But here is one of my fav images from the wedding day

Victoria & Owen

It's like excursion day at school, we caught the ferry from Circular Quay and went to Taronga Zoo for some monkey business. Check it out....

in my best David Attenborough voice "Here we have a male and female of the species. The male and female are in conflict over when to start reproduction. Females benefit from staying coy and evaluating the male for some time, while the males are eager to start as soon as possible. In the model the optimal duration of female coyness is a trade-off between the benefit of waiting and gaining information about the male and the cost of postponing reproduction."
OK, sorry way too much information :-)

Monkey see monkey do.

Deb & Nathan e-session

Two words, abstract & surreal; when I asked Deb & Nathan what kind of imagery they liked they came back with Salvador Dali. Excellent, I love doing something different, and although I wasn't able to come up with a proper melting image of Deb & Nathan on the spot, I went for a more offbeat look that usual.
Guys, you were a great sport, and that Oreo Bash...mmmm :-)

Oh yes, and I did get some of the usual lovey dovey images as well.....just in case.

If Dali had a digital camera and Warhol had Photoshop you'd probably get something like this...or not, who knows.

Christine & Huw e-session

It was a rainy day, so I asked Christine & Huw if they wanted to reschedule the e-session. I was kinda hoping to go ahead anyway since it's been a while since I had a chance to shoot in the rain, and rainy days have a charm all of their own; leaden skys, ominous clouds and the ground shiny from the previous rain.
In the end we agreed to pack some umbrellas and head for the beach.

It didn't rain in the end, but shooting without having to worry about too much sun glare and squinting was a nice change. We had a blast, Christine and Huw just managed to keep a straight face long enough for me to get some serious shots, the rest of the time we just had a riot.

Keep it up for the wedding and we'll get some awesome shots!

PS.: if anyone 'borrowed' an umbrella at Nielson Park please let me know, no questions asked :-)
